Alaminos City:  Groundbreaking of the Constructed Wetland


After several months of negotiation, Alaminos City and the private landowner has signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the construction of wetland. The MOA provides that the landowner authorizes the city government to use his privately-owned lot as the site of the constructed wetland.

In return, the city government shall shoulder all expenses for project, e.g. landfilling of the entire property as well as the introduce a “canal”for the passage of water to be channeled to the wetland project to be placed in the middle of the property and connecting road to wetland.  The MOA was signing was held on March 18, 2012 which was witnessed by Congressman Ted Casino, the Vice-Mayor, NGO representatives and other city officials. After the MOA signing, grounbreaking ceremony took place signaling the start of the construction of the wetland park.  The city government intends to finish the construction before the DELGOSEA projects ends in August 2012.
