Short Memo: Replication in Misamis Oriental On Track

From January 31 to February 1, the DELGOSEA pilot city of Misamis Oriental (MisOr) was glad to host the 3rd monitoring visit, including an update of logical framework (logframe), work plan and a joint meeting of the conference of mayors (COM), in Cagayan de Oro.

The Provincial Tourism Officer, President of the Provincial Federation of Municipal Tourism Councils, and Provincial Press Office representative joined the meeting of twenty representatives from the Inter-Municipal Team (IMT) composed of the MANLUNA and BINKISU clusters.

The discussions on day one revolved around the logframe and the work plan. The technical working group (TWG) discussed feedbacks received from the monitoring team (Dr. Marion’ Fischer’s suggestions) and updated the logical framework accordingly. Additionally, a the accomplishments per cluster were highlighted in order to analyze the  progress of the pilot areas towards the best practice replication. Based on these two discussions, needs for additional training and capacity building have been determined.

After presenting the logframe to the Conference of Mayors of both MANLUNA and BINKISU Clusters, discussions on the status of Phuket BP model replication in Misamis Oriental followed. Regional Director Charito A. Raagas of the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) – Northern Mindanao Region - also graced the Joint COM Meeting to provide input on the Cluster Approach on Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) and Zoning Ordinance (ZO) Formulation/Updating, a timely approach as Phuket BP model replication in MisOr BP embraces the ‘Green Governance’ concept of development.

Towards the end of the monitoring visit, the TWG also tackled the design of community-based Eco-Cultural Tourism Development and Management Plan Formulation. The 2–day workshop proved very useful in setting Misamis Oriental’s priorities to ensure that the project remains on course.
