The network news of the EU co-funded project Partnership for Democratic Local Governance (DELGOSEA) presents its June 2012 e-newsletter.

1. The View from the Top – A Mayor’s Experience with DELGOSEA

Interview with Mr Vichai Bandasak, the Mayor of Pakkret: Mr Mayor, the pilot city of Pakkretis well known for its efforts to involve the local community in the development of the old market. Is this people-oriented approach new for Pakkret city or did you have similar projects in the past? What are the specific benefits of involving the local population in the planning processes?



2. What I Really Think – the Views of a Coach for the Pilot Cities

Interview with Ms Indah – Indonesia: Ms Indah, you have represented APEKSI (one of the Indonesian LGAs) many times in DELGOSEA activities, including providing solutions for problems related to the best practice (BP) replication in pilot cities. As the Director of Program Development and Advocacy, you have been capacitated to support the pilot cities in Indonesia. Could you please give us a little insight into what it means to assist the pilot cities? What are the main services you are providing to the cities?



3. A New Addition to the DELGOSEA Library

Publications are an important element of DELGOSEA’s holistic approach to sustainability, and the project team is delighted to announce the availability of a ‘Handbook of Best Practice Replications’ to complement the existing brochures, guides and leaflets.



4. DELGOSEA June Happenings

These are busy months for DELGOSEA as the project is heading towards the end of its funding period – to help you keep track of what is going on, here’s an overview of the activities and events that are currently keeping the DELGOSEA teams around the region occupied.
